The German Association – Deutsches Haus was founded in 1856 and is the oldest foreign club in Singapore.

There are a number of clubs comprising students who are learning the German language. These clubs offer an ideal environment to practice German and to learn more about German culture.

Books, magazines & newspapers in German are available at Books Kinokuniya and at the library of the Goethe-Institut. Magazines and newspapers can also be found in Holland Village, Borders, and some supermarkets.

Permanent exhibition of the Berlin Wall in Singapore
The Berlin Wall, a poignant symbol of the oppressive regime in former East Germany, came down on 9 November 1989. Parts of the dismantled wall were sold worldwide. Four segments with a total length of 4.80m and a height of 3.60m are permantly exhibited in Singapore at the eastern bank of the Bedok Reservoir Park.
